We’re Set for 2018:

World T’ai Chi & Qigong Day and T’ai Chi in the Park

We’re happy to announce that is now official: this year, we will be holding World T’ai Chi & Qigong Day at Diamond in the Pines (1844 Route 112; Coram) and T’ai Chi in the Park at Medford’s Peppermint Park (2215 Route 112).

Since August of this year, after we ended our 17-year collaboration with the Village of Patchogue, we’ve been working with Town of Brookhaven Supervisor Edward P. Romaine and the Town’s Department of Parks & Recreation to secure locations for both World T’ai Chi & Qigong Day (Saturday; April 28, 2018) and T’ai Chi in the Park (Saturdays; June 2, 9, 16, 23 & August 4, 11, 18, 25, 2018). We hope that 2018 is only the beginning of our collaboration with the Town of Brookhaven.

You can check out overviews for both events below and follow details regarding World T’ai Chi & Qigong Day on our Facebook page.

World T’ai Chi & Qigong Day

Saturday, April 28

9:00 AM - Noon

Diamond in the Pines; Coram, NY (USA)

We will be joining T'ai Chi Ch'uan and Qigong enthusiasts, practitioners, and instructors around the globe in celebration of the 21st Annual World T'ai Chi and Qigong Day. Water Tiger School is proud to host our 19th annual event.

Come and celebrate with three hours of free workshops and demonstrations from some of Long Island’s premier instructors and practitioners of T’ai Chi, Qigong, and related arts. New facilitators are welcome; please contact McElroy Laoshi of Water Tiger School for details on leading a workshop.

In case of inclement weather, the event will be rescheduled at the same time and place for Saturday, May 5th.

For its 21st year, Water Tiger’s annual T’ai Chi in the Park event returns in a new location. As noted above, the gatherings will run on consecutive Saturday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Arrive when you can and leave when you must. Practitioners from all styles of T’ai Chi, as well as from all levels of study, are invited for mornings full of practice and conversation. Since Water Tiger moved the event to Long Island in 2001, we have brought together well over 1,500 residents from across the region to meet, practice, and learn with one another. Eighteen different regional instructors and practitioners have led the various workshops and exercise sessions. Please feel free to come teach, learn, chat, ask questions, or just watch.

T’ai Chi in the Park (June 3, 2017): Laoshi Laurince McElroy (R) leads the morning’s participants through the four postures of Water Tiger’s “Taste of the 24”.

This is a free event, hosted by Water Tiger School of T’ai Chi Ch’uan.

Peppermint Park is at Route 112 and Jamaica Avenue in Medford. We will start each morning in the open area east of the playground.

These are informal gatherings only, no classes are being offered. Learning opportunities are always available. Weekly meetings will depend upon fair weather and no rain dates will be scheduled.
