Practicing various Medium-Frame Yang-style Open-hand forms, Yang-influenced sword forms, and a variety of Qigong, Laoshi Laurince D. McElroy has been teaching since 1991, after receiving certification from Sifu R. Mesmer of the Black Dragon School of T’ai Chi Ch’uan in Vermillion, South Dakota.  His programs include introductory, advanced, and open classes in various public venues, studio classes, private lessons, seminars, speaking engagements, and customized WARRIOR WELLNESS™ programs for corporate environments.  McElroy Laoshi’s approach blends the learning of the movements with building an understanding of their martial roots as well as the art’s foundation in Taoist philosophy.  He holds an MFA in theatrical direction, is a recognized stage combat director and fight choreographer, and has 10 years of experience in the corporate training and development industry.

Since 1997, McElroy Laoshi has promoted the arts of T’ai Chi and Qigong and has sought cohesion in the Chinese Martial Arts community through founding T’ai Chi in the Park events in Des Moines, IA, and Patchogue, NY, as well as organizing these communities’ first participation in World T’ai Chi & Qigong Day. Both events continue to thrive in Patchogue.
