Instructor Profile

Practicing various Medium-Frame Yang-style Open-hand forms, Yang-influenced sword forms, and a variety of Qigong, Laoshi Laurince D. McElroy has been teaching since 1991, after receiving certification from Sifu R. Mesmer of the Black Dragon School of T’ai Chi Ch’uan in Vermillion, South Dakota.  His programs include introductory, advanced, and open classes in various public venues, studio classes, private lessons, seminars, speaking engagements, and customized Warrior Wellness™ programs for corporate environments.  McElroy Laoshi’s approach blends the learning of the movements with building an understanding of their martial roots as well as the art’s foundation in Taoist philosophy.  He holds an MFA in theatrical direction and is a recognized stage combat director and fight choreographer.  He transitioned into teaching T’ai Chi fulltime in 2001 after 10 years in the corporate training and development industry.
